A friend of mine who knows that I'm a complete Final Fantasy XI buff, sent me a plushy of Carbuncle. Who, or what, is Carbuncle?

He's the first summon (or avatar) you get when you unlock the Summoner job in the game. It's also the name of a server.

Pics (even one that has me in it) below the cut!

I has Carby! )

The rules of the game are that each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog. Here are my facts:

1. I cannot see that well out of my left eye. I was blind in it when I was born, but had several operations on it before I was 4. I CAN see, but not that well.

2. I've seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show over 1,000 times!

3. I played clarinet (and sometimes sax) from when I was 12 up until I graduated high school. I was even in the marching band.

4. I am allergic to cats, but yet I have 3 of them (soon to get a 4th) at my house.

5. I have lived in the states if Louisiana, Missouri, Iowa, and Mississippi.

6. The first CD I bought was U2's "Boy." The first DVD I bought was "Ghostbusters."

7. I have seen Rush in concert 9 times and this August will be the 10th.

The Everything Test

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more dependent than loner, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are romantic (86%).

Emo Kid89%
Punk Rock80%
White Trash68%
Life Experience

Your political views would best be described as Libertarian, whom you agree with around 64% of the time.
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. You make more than 66% of those who have taken this test, and 42% less than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13.
By the way, your hottness rank is 55%, hotter than 29% of other test takers.

Well, if you've read [livejournal.com profile] dadaginny's LJ you know that she's back safe and sound from her weekend trip down to Louisiana.

Ginny's Louisiana Goodness )

Except for a case of pink-eye last October which forced me out of work for a few days, I actually called-in sick to work today. I don't like doing that, but today I kinda felt like it would be better if I did.

Yes, I don't feel well. I know some do it just to have a day off, but even something like a cold, sniffles, light head, etc usually doesn't keep me out. I go in and buck it up.

Last night, I started having difficulty breathing, throwing up, etc. I quick trip to Walgreens to get some over the counter medicine helped me sleep, but this morning it was the same.

I think I'm getting another run of bronchitis. Joy.

On a happier note, as most of you know I am a massive Final Fantasy XI player. Been playing for over a year and a half now and still haven't gotten a job to level 75. Anyways, I just got a package from Square-Enix today. I just received the FINAL FANTASY XI Original Soundtrack Premium Box! Seven (yes, seven) discs of pretty much all of the music from the game.

Discs 1 & 2 - Music from the game Final Fantasy XI
Disc 3: Music from the expansion pack Rise of the Zilart
Disc 4: Music from the expansion pack Chains of Promathia
Disc 5: Music from the expansion pack Treasures of Aht Urhgan
Disc 6: Unreleased tracks covering the entire game and expansions
Disc 7: Selected themes performed on piano

It also includes sheet music (for piano) on selected songs as well.

As my Pretty Pretty Princess [livejournal.com profile] penny_pixie would say, "I'm such a goober."

If anyone who reads this and plays FFXI, I am on the Midgardsormr server and my character name is Kaientai.

My mom just had to sign for a package from LSU Medical School up in Shreveport. The package contains my father's ashes. We didn't expect them this early, but naturally we're a bit down in the household.

After we calm down, we're going to start making plans for what my father wanted.

More details on that later.

Right now, I just want to cry...

Tonight, I applied for at least seven jobs in Columbia, MO.

Simple. I want to move back up there. And if any one of these seven (and even more) applications go through, it will happen.

When I visited up there a little over a month ago, I fell in love with the town all over again. It's growing by leaps and bounds and I want to be there and spend the rest of my days in that beautiful little city. I spent 7 wonderful years there and want to experience it all over again.

Also, there is really nothing holding me to Baton Rouge anymore. I mainly moved back to help my mom care for my ailing father. Sadly, he passed away last year and, not the be cruel, the need for me to be here is not required.

It's time for me to move on. It's time to reclaim my life.

Well, if you read [livejournal.com profile] dadaginny's LJ, you read that she's coming down here for a few days.

What can someone do in Louisiana? Well...

1. Contraband Days in Lake Charles, LA. It's about a 3 hour drive, but she wants to do it. We may make a pit stop in Welsh for some good food too.

2. New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. I had a spare ticket anyways. She wants to see Harry Connick, Jr. so we're gonna go her last night here. Steely Dan is gonna perform before him and "My Old School" is my favorite song.

3. Magnolia Mound. A plantation home not too far from where I live. One of the few that's owned by the city and not private. The private ones don't let you venture too far in and you can't see much.

4. Avery Island, LA. What's so special about Avery Island? Well, it's where Tobasco is made. Yes, the hot and spicy sauce is made not too far from where I live. A tour is planned.

There's other stuff we're gonna try and squeeze in, but there's some neat things I think she should see and I know there's things she wants to do. I'm also gonna see if my mom can cook for her as well.

Oh, and I'm gonna send back some Community Coffee back with her. It's the best sold coffee around here and it's "local."

Today has not been a good day. For some reason, I was up early and have been groggy for most of the day. Mom comes home from church and doesn't feel well, so our Easter plans are pretty much shot.

Since we're both home, I decide to finish working on her computer and also switch out her DirecTV receiver to replace what we thought was a defective one.
Where do I begin with DirecTV?

DirecTV Badness )

Oh, Happy Easter everyone. :-P

Why is today (and even yesterday) just getting me irritable?

I had to work on my mom's computer yesterday (replace hard drive, etc.) and she just kept nagging me over and over again. Wouldn't listen to a word I said or anything.

Then my inconsiderate brother decides to eat some soup that I was going to have as my dinner. He did by another can, but it gets better. They decide to go get some fast food. I give them some cash and tell them what I want. An hour later, I'm wondering where my food is, so I ask. Not here yet.

20 minutes later, I go to the kitchen and everyone is just about finished eating the food. No one bothered to come tell me the food was here. Mine was cold and not good.

I was just so cranky yesterday.

Today, I'm still that way. I get to work, no computers to work on. Nothing to do. I'm bored off my ass. I get one phone call from a woman who brought her computer in 5 days ago and wonders why the service center just got it this morning. Um, you brought it in on a Friday honey. UPS doesn't ship on weekends, so the service center getting it today is normal. She finds it unacceptable and DEMANDS that I tell the service center to fix it ahead of everyone else.

I laugh and tell her no.

Geez. I just had a vacation and feel I could use another one already.

I think I may take a weekend off or something.

Well, I'm back from my most wonderful trip to Missouri. Spent time with [livejournal.com profile] dadaginny in which we watched some rubber monster movies (or tried to at least since some of my discs were bad). I also cooked some red beans and rice for her. They were quite tasty.

Today is my mom's birthday and I'm cooking a pot of red beans and rice for her today. They smell good, but won't be ready for a few more hours as I type this.

kaithepirate: (more cowbell)
Well, it's that time. Time for another Cajun World Tour. I'll be spending the week in glorious Missouri. I'll be there mainly to visit [livejournal.com profile] dadaginny. We're going to be watching a lot of movies and I'll be showing off my mad culinary skillz.

See ya'll in a week...or whenever I decide to post again... :-P

Well, I took the plunge and finally upgraded my computer to Windows Vista (got the Ultimate version). I didn't want to at first mainly because the only thing I do on my PC is play Final Fantasy XI Online and it supposedly doesn't work under Vista. Well, after doing some research and reading how people did get it to work, I decided to go ahead and upgrade. Well, it's in the middle of downloading it's updates, so all seems to be well.

I have transferred to a different Best Buy location as mentioned in my previous post. It happened rather suddenly, but I've been there for 2 1/2 weeks now. Lots of clean up had to be done and many fires had to be put out, but all is going well.

As for Valentine's Day, I hope you all have a good one. As you know, I don't care for it, so I'll just leave it at that.

A few things to let you guys know...

1. I'm done with ITT for good. I thought taking a break to recharge my batteries would help, but it didn't. I went back and after a couple of weeks I just realized that my heart isn't in furthering my education at this time. I may (or may not) go back. We shall see.

2. There is a possibility I may be changing locations at Best Buy. There is a relatively new store in my city and there will be more opportunities and challenges for me there. I talked to a couple of the managers last week and now I'm playing the waiting game. I'm still happy with Best Buy and Geek Squad, but my current location isn't offering anything new at this time.

3. My mom and I have decided that it's time for me to look for a place of my own. I moved back in the house to help her when my father had his stroke and while I was in school. Since I'm not in school and my father has passed away, there really is no reason for me to stay. Sure, the free room and board is nice, but I need a place of my own.

4. I'm gonna be headed up to Columbia, MO the first week of March. I was hoping to get up there on the 4th or March, but my store said we're doing our inventory that night. So, I may have to delay the start of my vacation for a couple of days.

That's pretty much it. How you doing?

I hate myself. I hate everybody. I hate being me.

I have not having a life outside of playing Final Fantasy. I hate not being able to be with two of the most important persons in my life when they need someone. I hate that I have pushed someone whom I care for deeply away.

I hate this.

Hateful ramblings )
kaithepirate: (cheat)
Well, I'm back in school. I started a new quarter at ITT last night after taking a quarter off. The death of my father on top of other things just burned me out on pretty much everything. I barely finished the last quarter I took. I'm hoping that taking the time off helped.

Thanksgiving here was uneventful. Nothing major. Just me, mom, brother (and his family), and my grandmother. Small and quiet.

I had to work the next morning with it being "Black Friday" and all. It seemd a tad slower than it did last year. I got sick towards the end of my shift, but oh well. :-P

This is the first holiday season without my dad. It just seems...different as you would expect but it's something we can never get used to. Last Christmas was not good as he was in the hospital and we considered that "the beginning of the end" for him. This year, he's not here at all (physically) that is.

I really don't want to do anything. No tree, no lights, nothing. Last year just ended it for me as far as Christmas is concerned.

Anywho, that's about it for now, at least. I'm still a bit depressed and I'll post on that some other time (maybe later this week). Just need to let it out ya know?

... to Total Geekness.

After putting the board back up in February, I said I'd put it up and then just let it run by itself. No biggie, right?

Well, here it is, 9 months later and it's become nothing but a waste of internet space and a place for spam-bots to try and get people to come to their sites. Pretty much most of the regular users (including me) haven't posted there in months. Instead of posting, I have to spend time going into the userlog and removing spam-bots. I get so pissed off, I don't want to post anymore.

I applied a hack that should have helped curb the bots, but it didn't. So, it's just not worth it anymore.

Total Geekness is now offline for good. Nothing anyone can say or do will bring it back. It's done. Finished. Kaput. For those who have links to the site, please remove them.

To all who helped and stuck around, thank you. :)

Last night was my 20th year watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show and it will more than likely be my last for quite a while (if at all).

As [livejournal.com profile] dadaginny mentioned in her LJ that it wasn't quite as fun for her this year as it has been the past and the same holds true for me. First of all, the print the theater obtained was just AWFUL. Segments of songs were cut, various splices here and there, but that's not a reason to get bored.

I just don't know why but once the opening credits started, I was just sitting there going "Why am I doing this?" I just didn't care about anything last night. I have other reasons which I will get into at a later time, but I need confirmation on something first before I go into THAT tirade.

Ginny and I couldn't wait to leave the theater and just get away from that debacle.

So, we watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and the evening was saved.

Anyways, once I get confirmation on whether something was done last night or not, I'll let you guys know how I REALLY felt about last night and what would cause me to basically say "Screw it" to seeing the film again.
kaithepirate: (Default)
Well, it's now October 4th 11:54am (central). In about 9 hours, it begins.

For 20 years, I've watched this movie for at least once a year. That movie is The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Tonight, however, will be on a much grander scale as this will be held in the Missouri Theater in downtown Columbia. I've lived in this town for 6 years and never set foot in it, but tonight that all changes. We are expecting a large crowd tonight and I'm both nervous and excited. I'll try and take lots of pics and post them if I can.

I've been hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] dadaginny a lot. Well, not a lot but pretty much every night since I've gotten here. She was the first person I went to when I arrived in town (sorry Mark, but she's better looking than you). :-P

Seriously, she needs a week like this to just not worry about anything. I'm glad to see she's doing better this week. I can't pretend to know what she's going through. Long distance relationships royally SUCK and I DO know this from personal experiences.

Anyways, I'm just glad to be there for her when she needs someone there. She and [livejournal.com profile] jedione are two of my best friends and I love them both dearly. It just sucks that the US military had to do this to them. Fear not my friends, the two of you will be in each others loving arms soon. You are both strong and you WILL get through this. And when you are back together, I will come and visit and we will do some serious amounts of bowling.
